Peace Begets Peace
I would like to share an experience I had yesterday at the Monterey Airport. I arrived at the airport in a very beautiful peaceful place. My mind was quiet and at peace. I was well into being imperturbable. I had just spent a week in Monterey, CA at a release retreat presented by a gentleman named Larry Crane. I spent the week letting go of emotional ego-based junk in my mind through an easy and simple technique. After the retreat, I was going home and was at the airport with a fellow retreat participant named John. While going through security we saw there we two machines where our items were scanned but only one when machine for the passengers to screened. Needless to say, the line for everyone to pass through became bottlenecked. There was some pushing and shoving from several people. Meanwhile John and I just stood there in line being very peaceful just waiting for things to clear. The female Security guard was getting frustrated and kept demanding- “For everyone to stay behind the line”, in a very loud gruff voice. Her demeanor was quiet Gestapo-like. Once the passenger passed through she continued to give them a hard time. Then it was my turn I walked through and handed her my boarding pass and she looked it looked up and me and smiled and said “Thank You Vicki” I said you are welcome and went to retrieve my things. John walked through and she said” thank you John” to him and then continued with the next person in line and she did not seem to be as angry. John and I both laughed as we saw what happened. In fact a friend of his from Monterey who happened to be on our same flight and was not part of the retreat-who went through before us said the gal said nothing nice to her. This really made us laugh.
It just proved to me – that when I am at peace I have the ability to pass it on to a complete stranger and change their response to the world. My conclusion is that Peace begets Peace. If a large number of people became peaceful- then through the theory of the “tipping point” we could have peace in the world and we all could live as one- just like the song, Imagine, by the Beatles.
